living in the present

While driving I usually listen to talk radio or nothing. Dave does it so I just have got into the habit. Plus I rarely drive by myself anymore. But the other day while driving I was really tired and put on pandora. Someone on facebook the other day posted that they put on a certain station and it was flawless. Usually whatever station I put on I end up skipping a bunch of songs. (Note to self...BRING YOUR IPOD!) Well this station I maybe skipped one song the whole day. Every song I was hit with a different wave of emotion. Songs weren't bringing back exact flashbacks of why (though times it did) but just feelings.
At one point I looked back and I could see Elinor's little face looking at me in her mirror. I realized how much my life has changed in the last couple of years. I never thought I would be where I am now or even how happy I am now. It's funny how a song can make you remember years and years ago and how it can make you appreciate everything in your life and who you became in just 2 minutes.

4am on the morning Dave left

  1. I always listen to music in the car (thank goodness for XM). But I know exactly what you mean. Cat Stevens is the one guy who can always make me come back to reality.

ps remember when I had to sit down in a store and cry because I heard Jimmy Eat World and immediately my heart hurt from missing a six year old Conor
