what do you do all day?

Someone posted a link to this blog yesterday on stay at home moms. Being a stay at home mom doesn't mean you have so much free time to do anything. I can barely get anything done. Yesterday it took all day to just do two loads of laundry because Elinor was demanding other activities. It doesn't help that every mealtime is longer than the last. "Just one bite please!" I love spending so much one on one time with her though. I love seeing her face when we read a new book, go to a sing along, take a class or do a new craft project. She is talking so much more and learning more everyday.

I'm sure Matt Walsh's post will make its way around the internet very quickly and I hope people read it. He sticks up for his wife who chooses to stay at home with their children. It's crazy that people with children would think staying home isn't a job. People have even said to me that nannying isn't a real job. Caring for a child, teaching a child, loving a child all day is one of the most important jobs!

  2. I think moms need to support each other whether you work outside of the home or stay home, or do a bit of both! Negativity helps no one!

  4. I may not have thought it was a tough job when I was younger and didn't have kids. I never thought I'd be a SAHM, but I am and I love it. It is quite possibly the hardest job I've ever had though, because it literally NEVER ENDS. Just yesterday, a dad friend came up to me and he was exhausted. He had been home w/his kids for 3 days while his wife went away on a business trip. He just kept saying how much credit he give us stay-at-home parents and that he can't believe how much work it is!

  5. Staying at home is so much harder than being at work. When I had my first son I worked three days a week. The days I worked were nothing compared to the days I did not work.

  6. Staying at home is SO much harder than I thought it would be. You're right about the laundry and other chores-- very hard to do when your little ones want to play! It takes me forever to get anything done. I feel extremely fortunate to be able to stay home with my kids but I'm humbly accepting that this is the hardest job I will EVER have.

  7. I find both to be incredibly hard jobs in their own way but I have done both and got so much more flack and lack of respect for being a SAHM. It is sad when some people value raising your kids full time so much less. Good job mama.
