working out at home

Elinor practicing some poses at the beach in Beverly before we moved.

I would love to go to yoga classes even once a week or really any kind of workout class. We had joined the Y before we moved but Elinor hated the daycare and I didn't feel comfortable leaving her there. I'm sure I have wrote about it before but they were awful and she just screamed the entire time I was gone. Besides that I just don't have time or money to go.

I've downloaded apps in the past that were ok but I always get bored with them. Our old neighbor also wasn't happy with me working out after Elinor would go to bed. After that happened we started looking for yoga videos on youtube. Yoga is a lot quieter than jump squats and jumping jacks. We found one we really like and a few that are ok. After moving we just couldn't get back into a routine.

About a month ago I found a 30 day yoga challenge. Every video is super short, between 11-20 min. It was perfect to get familiar with certain poses and back into a routine. Since we have finished the challenge, we started back with Bryan Jones yoga and we are feeling great.

I have a hard time finding a good video with a person I like, that you can clearly hear and it isn't too long.
Do you have any favorite yoga videos on youtube?

  1. Check out sportskool. That's what is provided with the "On Demand" portion of FIOS, but they have a cheap subscription model on youtube as well. I have thought their yoga videos were pretty good and vary between 20 to 60 mins - and they have kids ones as well.

  3. I love yoga but have never thought of checking it out on YouTube. My daughter likes it as well and has her own yoga mat!

  5. I am finding it challenging to find time to work out. I think it's just because I am not making the time for myself. My sister in law gave me P90X but I am too scared to try it! LOL

    1. I did insanity before Elinor and saw results pretty quickly. It just was so long! I heard there is a shorter version now that I need to check out

  6. It's a bummer that she's not into the Y. It's a savior for me having two kids and needing to get my butt in shape! When we lived in Philly, we went to the PSC, they have babysitting too... but it's not for everyone. I love seeing your little one getting involved! There's a couple of really cute kid yoga videos out there too... Have you checked out the On Demand fitness section on your TV? There are usually some decent ones there too!

    1. Maybe a different Y would work. The babysitting room workers were not very friendly at the one we went to. I never thought to look on demand! I will check that out

  7. I was just telling my sister I needed to get back into yoga. My baby is seriously good at baby yoga, too - especially downward dog :)
