too busy

I write complete blog posts in my head everyday but the second I sit down they are gone. I've tried taken notes but forget what I had wrote in my head. I also have the problem where everything sounds good in my head, until I say it out loud or write it down.
Elinor and Henri hanging out in a puppy cage. I should probably get one for home, right?
I feel like every time I blog now, I am complaining about not having enough time or being too busy. I just heard on the radio that people now brag about how busy they are, instead of bragging about a new car or about their children. How interesting is that? I've never thought about it before but now I can totally think of times when people talk about their schedules to me and it just seems like bragging. I know everyone is so insanely busy in their own lives though. If only these kids would pick up some slack! Is Elinor too young to start doing the dishes? How about the laundry?
Reality, I could probably not waste as much time on my phone at night. I can always check instagram/facebook/pinterest/buzzfeed later. Especially since Elinor has been going to bed at a decent hour (going on day 4). I have so many hours between her bedtime and when I go to bed now!
I'm taking a yoga class tonight but when I get home I'm not going to sit around and whine about not having enough time. I'm going to get to work!

  1. blogging is more time consuming than those who don't blog know. and i know too many people who love complaining about how busy they are... def strange.

  2. I find that I get so many more chores done when Tali helps me, she loves to do her own dishes, sort and fold laundry, organize anything and she absolutely loves it! We started when she was 2, I'm sure Ellie would enjoy helping you! :)

  3. Maria Montessori says Elinor can contribute to the housework:

  4. Good for you for making time for yoga! One of my favorite ways to break the whining cycle is to write a gratitude list. This is something you can get the kids involved with verbally too and it's a wonderful habit to start at a young age!

  5. I write much more in my head than I have time for either! But, when I get those to the keyboard, they are usually the best :)

  7. Everyday my mind goes blank. I lay down in my bed and voila! A head full of ideas that I forget by the time the sun comes up! :)

  8. I always "write" blog posts in my head in the shower, and forget them the minute I get out. Sometimes, that's all I need to clear my head and move on. It's a busy time of year, but summer is such a great reminder to slow down too. ;-)
