first dentist visit

My baby went to the dentist! She seems so little still to go but I was getting bugged from her insurance that she needs to go. When we went to Fairy and Wizard Festival, one table was set up with bags from the tooth fairy. The people were so friendly and engaging with Elinor that I looked up their office.
Children's Dental Health has offices all over PA but we went to the Plymouth Meeting one. The waiting room was so cool. It was decorated like a jungle. So much to look at and distract little ones from going to a doctor. They also had nemo playing on a couple of TVs. Dave's favorite part, an arcade game loaded with multiple old school games that we could play for free!
The actual room was also brightly decorated, with prize toys and stickers in sight. She got to pick out her own toothbrush to bring home that day. I'm so surprised how well she did. She got up into the seat and opened her mouth so wide right away. I'm sure the episode of Peppa Pig going to the dentist helped too. The assistant said parents have told her they prepped their kids with that episode too. We had read some books but most of them were for older kids about when their teeth fall out. When we got home and talked about the visit again she said "My tooth came out!". My poor confused baby. I think someone has to write a new book about the dentist for toddler and preschoolers not just school age kids!

How old was your child when they first went to the dentist?

  1. That looks like an awesome pediatric dental practice! My son was almost 3 when he went the first time - I gave him his sunglasses (he is never w/o them) to wear inside during his exam. He thought he was too cool! lol

  2. I need to take J to a dentist soon! And definitely one like this dentist! Score!

  3. I love how colorful and interactive their office is! It always helps when a child's first visit is an enjoyable one. Glad you had a good experience!

  4. Jack had his first visit awhile ago we have a dentist similar to this one by us. I love how kid friendly it it.

  5. I’m glad to hear that Elinor already went on her first trip to the dentist. You made a great choice in selecting that lively dental office. She looks so comfortable and relaxed while sitting on the dentist’s chair. She looks so excited for her check up to start. So adorable! Thanks for sharing that awesome milestone, Caitlin! All the best to your family!
