a day in the backyard

When we first moved, we spent so much time in our yard. Lately we have been spending so much time inside. A few days ago we all weren't feeling the best. We spent the morning hanging around inside but after nap we needed fresh air. I brought a bag of snacks, a blanket, some toys and the slide to the backyard.
After we ate, Dave cleaned the fire pit for us to hopefully use soon and racked some leaves. Elinor and I laid on the blanket, jumped in leaves and played hide and seek with Zylie. It was so much fun and refreshing to be out.

Zylie the Bear

If you follow me on Instagram then you have seen our new friend Zylie. As soon as Zylie showed up Elinor has been dragging her around everywhere. She isn't just a normal teddybear, she can be easily dressed/undressed and all limbs are moveable but still being cuddly and soft. She is very easy to bring along on all of our adventures. The first day Elinor said "Zylie dress off. Zylie coat off. Zylie coat on. Where's Zylie purse?" all day! Elinor is really into dress up now and she is so excited to have a toy to can dress up too.

Along with a complete outfit, Zylie came with a passport, diary, map and a hardback Zylie book. The book is super cute story about Zylie and her little brother Theo on an adventure in NYC. I love how Zylie encourages adventures since that is completely what our family is about.

The morning after we received Zylie, Elinor was again dragging her all around the house while we got ready for the day. We had plans to meet up with Dave's mom and go to Lucky Penny Farm. It is a Alpaca farm that was opening to the public for the day. Everyday before leaving I tell Elinor to go grab a friend to bring. I wasn't surprised when she ran to her Zylie. I fashioned a sling for her since she is little and it would make it easier to hold.

At the farm we saw alpaca, chickens, roosters, dogs, swung in a hammock, checked out craft tables and so much more. The whole time Zylie was right at Elinor's side.

As a family that loves adventures and finding new things to do, we love Zylie. I already know for someones upcoming birthday and holidays we are going to have to pick up some new clothes for Zylie.
