halloween

Since we knew there was no way we could leave to drive anywhere Sunday (they were closing streets down in Salem plus all the traffic would be awful) we decided to clean the house. Like really clean! It took hours. Not like our place is that messy but just reorganizing, vacuuming and dusting. Oh and hanging more pictures.
Before we started cleaning we made Ployes.
Ployes are a French Acadian flat bread/pancake made up of buckwheat flour, wheat flour, aluminum free baking powder and salt. They are easier to make than pancakes. All you have to do is add water. We bought them from the veg food fest.
After we were fed and the house was super clean we got dressed and carved pumpkins. Well Dave carved them. I have awful luck with anything sharp even if it is safe for kids. I roasted the seeds while he did the work.

Then it was time to walk around outside for awhile and see the fireworks. Crazy what killing some "witches" will do to a town.
Very quickly after the fireworks police came through and all the tents and the carnival shut down. By 11 it was so quiet. The next morning walking to the train you wouldn't have even guessed anything had happened the night before.
Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween.
