Last week we brought Elinor to a playground we heard about. She was really tired but we went anyway after dinner. She was having fun until she fell...so bad it makes you feel like an awful parent fall. She fell on her face, biting her lip/getting wood chips in her cuts. We scooped her up and ran to the car. We were deciding if we should go to the emergency room or not but decided to at least get ice on it. Dave ran into a fast food place for a cup of ice. At that point, she was calm and the bleeding had stopped. It looked like she had bit through and it was so swollen. After talking to both of our moms, we went home. We gave her a Popsicle to keep ice on it and a bath to try and clean it more. Oh it looked so horrible.
this was the morning after
Besides ice we were trying to figure out what we could put on her cut. It was too close to her mouth to put any medicine on. Dave suggested breastmilk. Why didn't I think of that?? (For those of you that don't know...Breastmilk is full of antibodies and antitoxins) I don't know if it has to do with the milk or if she is a quick healer but you can almost not even see where her cut was. We were both nervous she would have a scar from it.
I saw this on fb a few days after the fall happened.
She is normally fearless at parks. Since this happened she starts shaking just going up stairs. I hope she gets her confidence back!

Aww sweet girl. Falls happen. It's not your fault. They are an important part of growing up. It's better to have her explore independently and take risks than not. She will be fine.
ReplyDeleteyou're right. It was nice at the playground today when she wanted help climbing things and would stop when she got too high
DeleteI couldn't even tell over the weekend that she got hurt!
