zoo day

The only time Elinor has been to Stone Zoo was for ZooLights in December. Not many animals were out and it was mostly about the lights. Franklin Park is a lot better (I think) but Stone is much closer. Last time we went to Franklin Park was in November. She loved it but this time she knew animals and would make their sounds. She did not like the bird show! This kid is afraid of birds. Anytime one flew by she would jump and grab onto one of us. 

The pig went to the bathroom right before this picture. Elinor pointed said "peepee!" then walked away with her stink eye.

 After this picture, Dave told her to give the goat a kiss goodbye. She did...right on the mouth and the goat licked her back.

It was supposed to rain all day and it never did. Perfect and not crowded! I want to make another trip to Franklin Park soon. I need to remember to see if our library has any available free passes soon. I always forget to do that. 

Does your library offer free/discount tickets to museums and zoos?

I love anything Christmas/Holiday related. So for my birthday Dave took us to Zoolights. We go every year but I was so excited to see how Elinor liked it. We brought the stroller thinking she would want to sit at some point. Nope this little girl just ran and ran. She loved the lights and we even got to see some animals. 

 We were all alone. We saw one other family the whole time we were there.

It was FREEZING that night! I had so many layers on Ellie. She doesn't seem to mind the cold though. I love seeing our regular traditions through her eyes.

After I picked Dorie up from school last week, we took a trip to the zoo. We hadn't been in so long. Since we didn't get there until after 2 it was empty and all the animals were right up in front of their cages. I've never seen it like that before. They also were starting to set up for zoolights that we usually go to every year. Dorie got excited at first that the rides were set up but I had to explain it wouldn't be open until later this month.

 She has watched FANTASTIC MR FOX a little too much

 There was a little boy next to her and they were growling at him. After giggles and growling the jaguar got mad and started showing its teeth. I wish I could a good picture of that

By the way, as of the 7th the baby should be here in a month! Dave is guessing earlier and I'm guessing later.

For Zoolights there isn't much of the zoo open but what is they have completely covered in lights and Christmas music playing. There were a couple animals out like owls, an eagle, porcupines, a reindeer and a couple more.

We all had so many layers on and we were still freezing!

 

There was also a section with displays of dancing toys and trains.

And a merry-go-round at the end!!!

Today is Friday!! We are going to a show tonight, babysitting Dave's cousins tomorrow and then heading to Philly Sunday! Hopefully I remember everything for the camera (and remember to take pics) so I can still post while we are away.
