trip with daddy

Dave had a couple of shows in California so he brought us along. It was so much fun. We got a little vacation and he got to play some shows. Elinor thinks that everywhere we go that everyone is there to see her. She just waves and smiles and yells at everyone to demand attention. Dave and I are both pretty quiet so it is funny. We didn't take out the camera until a couple days in. I did take a few with my phone though

We stayed with some friends that just moved near LA from MA. It was so nice to see them again and see their kids. We went to downtown Disney one afternoon. It was so insanely hot! But it was fun. 

They took us to Huntington Beach. The was a man just walking down the beach wearing a boa constrictor. It was such a pretty day but I guess that is normal there ha.

 After two days in LA they had a show in San Diego. Before driving there Dave's friend had a little party with his band and theirs. He has a daughter that is over a year. I was excited for Elinor to be able to have a playdate while we were there.

 His girlfriend went so out of her way and did an amazing job with the lunch! They even had it catered by Veggie Grill. She made these super good vegan sugar cookies with cream cheese icing and fruit on top. I still keep thinking about those!

 In San Diego we finally got the camera out. We got to the show early and there was a pretty park across the street. Since the sun was starting to go down, it was perfect lighting to take some pictures of Elinor.

Dave's friend was taking some promo pictures of the band and got a couple of cute ones of us. I will have to get them from Dave and post them soon.

After San Diego we drove half way to San Francisco. We got a hotel then drove the rest of the way in the morning. We wanted to get there early so he could bring us around to do some tourist things before the show. I will post the rest of the trip tomorrow.

We are in California! I love that I can schedule posts (when I'm not being lazy that is). We left Friday morning and will be gone for a week. Dave's band is playing some shows and we are going to try to do some touristy things again. If you happen to be at any of these shows come say hi!

New tricks in California

We are now to the point where Elinor's baby tricks are coming fast. While we were in California she started finally crawling forward. There wasn't too much time while we were there that she had floor time but when she did she was working hard on trying to go forward. She learned how to wave with a frantic full arm movement up and down. When someone would walk by there would go her little arm flapping hello. We also have a boy crazy kisser. Elinor started leaning her head slowly in when Dave kisses her with her mouth wide open to kiss him back. Later that week she went on the kiss the singer of Dave's band and his guitar players son who is one. Finally she kissed me back but sticks mostly to kissing on the boys.

The worst of the firsts happened that week also. She got her first diaper rash. It was so bad! Since we were traveling we didn't bring cloth diapers. Elinor has worn disposables before when we went to Florida and we didn't have a problem. We also used Huggies or pampers. This time we used Target brand. I know families that use them and it is fine. My poor baby's bottom could not handle it. We are just now getting rid of it. Lesson learned, sorry Ellie!

Santa Barbara

We brought Elinor to the fest which she loved. She thought everyone was there to see her. Even though she loved it we didn't want to keep her inside with headphones on all day. We would take little break from working the table during the day and go on a little adventure. This day we went to the beach. Every time we have been to Sound & Fury we have never gone to the beach. Good thing Daniel was at the fest to help us out! Thanks Daniel!!

California

We are currently in Ohio visiting my parents, we have been here since Friday. My plan was to post these pictures as soon as we got here but without my computer and visiting I never had time! I just realized I could use Dave's computer to post this.

Last Wednesday we head to California. Elinor was such a great littler traveler, barely making a peep the whole flight.

As soon as we got to LA we headed to Veggie Grill. 

Oh I wish we had one near us. Some of the best vegan food I have ever had. We have gone a couple of times with meat eaters that also love it. After stuffing ourselves we checked into the hotel in LA and went shopping. 

While shopping we met up with a friend. We told our friend we were wanting donuts not expecting to actually find some. There happened to be a Babycakes pretty close by. 

After getting some donuts and a cupcake we went to Native Foods for dinner. I was really excited about it but I ended up not liking it. Dave's food was ok and mine was ehh.

We swung by another friends house just to pick up some posters Dave had printed for the fest. We ended up sitting outside talking for way longer than we thought. Elinor slept the whole time and missed out meeting some new friends. As soon as we got back to the hotel she woke up super wild and happy. 

The next morning after picking Uncle Shawn up from LAX and eating at Hugo's (such good breakfast!!) we started driving to Santa Barbara. We made a few stops at the Camarillo Outlets, guitar center and Ross. 

Instead of staying at a hotel, we found a vacation rental. It is amazing and cheaper than the hotels in the area! It was back from everything, so quiet and beautiful with multiple gardens and walking trails. They have never allowed children there but made an exception for us! She was really good the whole time there, I hope they thought so too. I would love to stay there again next year.
