traveling with a two year old

or not...

We haven't been able to travel together as much lately. Dave has gone on a few little trips here and there for work or shows, but with Elinor now costing money to fly and taking dance/gymnastics classes, it isn't as easy. We do have a couple of trips planned for this year though and I'm excited!  It just isn't going to be as easy with a little lady that knows what she wants and will let you know if she isn't happy, "I don't like it!" "I don't want it!" "PUT ME DOWN!!" *throws herself down*. and forget a long car ride. Oh 2 year olds. At least we got to go to some pretty cool places the last 2 years (Japan, California a few times, Tennessee twice, Chicago, Cincinnati way too many times, and of course the million times we made the Boston/Philadelphia drive before we moved).

Even though it's just me and Elinor during the day, on the days that Dave has been away it has been special. We work on a special project for him when he gets home, we watch a movie and eat popcorn, we paint nails, basically we have a girly slumber party. It isn't so bad staying home after all.

Do you have any trips planned for this year? I'm getting to get somewhere I've always wanted to go this year! and maybe a special birthday trip to Disney for a big girls birthday.

Don't forget to enter to win a crochet LOVE banner. It would be perfect for your Valentine's Day!

  1. Elinor is a little beauty! I am glad you get to spend your days with her! Could there be anything better? Kaish and I flew all over when he was a baby. We haven't flown in a while. I really want to take the kids on a trip this summer.

  2. We drive from Phila to the FL Keys twice a year....mainly to save on flights with a family of 5 and to have a car available down there. Traveling with kids is not easy, but worth it to see their faces light up with new experiences.

    1. That's very true! Also I build it up in my head with what could go wrong and most the time she is a great traveler.

  3. We made it through our 10-hour (each way) trip over the holidays with a 6, 3, and 1 year old. Survived, yes. Loved every minute, goodness no! It definitely takes some trial and error!

  4. Now that's an awesome itinerary! We traveled a lot more with Amelia as a baby, but Zoe is more challenging to travel with. We've gone to Disney/Orlando every summer for the last 10 years, so it's a GREAT place to visit with a little one! So many great resources at Magic Kingdom for any age child :)

  5. Oh the places this little one has traveled in 2 years. You should do a book entitled The Adventures of Ellie

  6. It's so hard to travel with a two year old. We took my daughter to Disney World when she was 2 1/2 and yes, we brought a leash (best thing I ever did). You could lose little ones in a crowd so easy. I recommend going more locally first maybe like to Hershey Park or Sesame Place. -Estelle
